Care For Those We Love

In our families, we often find ourselves concerned for those we love. We then go all in to find them and to help them out. These are good instincts that we all have inside of us. God has given us over to love and care for our family, although some people are less often to do so. In scripture, we learn about Solomon’s first wife, who was concerned for her husband. Here is how it went down. 1“By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not. I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not. The watchmen that go about the city found me: to whom I said, Saw ye him whom my soul loveth? It was but a little that I passed from them, but I found him whom my soul loveth: I held him, and would not let him go, until I had brought him into my mother’s house, and into the chamber of her that conceived me.” There are many take aways from this. One of them is her great love and care for her husband. She went the extra mile to find him and even made known to others that he was her love. Then after finding him, she cared for him at her mother’s house. What a great example of love. As the love of God comes into your heart, you will also love like this.

Even in the midst of the love that Solomon’s wife showed towards Solomon, there is someone greater that cares for each one of us. That person is God. Just as Solomon was missing and his love went searching to find him, God does the same for us. When we are lost, God is always reaching for us. And those that respond are helped in a big way. His peace fills the atmosphere and love fills the hearts of every person. The Lord so desires that everyone be cared for, when there is a need. Just as a wife is worried about her missing husband, God is also worried about our lost souls. He longs to help us and respond to our needs. However, It is up to us to allow Him to do such a work. Lastly, let us see what Solomon’s wife did for him, once he was in safe at her mother’s home. She said, 1“I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes, and by the hinds of the field, that ye stir not up, nor awake my love, till he please.” As she did not want anybody to disturb him, she asked them not to wake him. He needed his rest, because of what he had gone through. This is the same way that God works. When we are down, God does not disturb us but only cares for our needs. He does what He can to bring about His peace. If you are searching for God, then you will experience this love and comfort in your life.

Let us pray:
Lord God, please help us love those in our family as You love us. Often times we learn about loving our neighbor and give to the needy, while our family suffers. I know God that those in need, need our help but our family does too. Help me learn to love my parents, brothers and sisters, wife and kids with Your love. May they no longer be left out but instead be sought after and cared for. May we be more in tune to their needs and respond in a big way. Give us over to truly know and understand more about their lives. This way, we will react and help them when things are going south. I am grateful for the Bible and the lessons learned from Solomon’s first wife in “Song Of Solomon 3”. I pray that as people read this chapter that they will be influenced by the love that was shown. Then, as they understand that their family’s needs are as important, may they respond to their needs in a similar way. I know that I need to do this more as well. As I look around my family, I can see that each one of their lives are in need of something. That is why I need Your counsel and guidance. Whatever their needs are now, let me find them out and help care for them. May Your peace rest upon their souls. I love You Lord. Amen.
