Keep Your Promises To God

When you commit to follow Jesus, never back down. Don’t let this be a moment in your life but endure in your faith and do as the Lord says till the end. It would also be a letdown to serve your whole life for Christ and then give up and do your own thing at the end. It would be devastating not only for the person who left their first love but also their family, who loves them so much. Death comes so fast for each one of us. Why waste any day, especially if it could be your last? Solomon taught about this and about not going back on what we promise to God. He said, 1“when thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.” It is true that we become very foolish when we so easily put down our guard and hang out with the wrong crowd. Even a simple TV Show, Movie or Video Game could set us off on the wrong path. Music is also a distraction to our walk with God, especially when the lyrics have nothing uplifting to say. So if this is you, then think of your life for Christ in this way. If you truly want to be saved and have His love in your life, then why not live a life that pleases Him? Thinking in this manner will help you change the way you live your life, watch on TV and listen to. Even our time in God’s Word and prayer will increase. Focusing out time on God changes our priorities until He is number one.

Solomon taught that these things that we promise to God, but then do the opposite, God hates. We are so foolish in this. He said, 1“better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.” So if you want to clean up your life, don’t just ask God for forgiveness but mean it. If you are true to your words, then also ask the Lord God to change you from within. As Solomon said, 1“suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin” any longer. But instead, be reconciled through the blood of Jesus and begin to walk in His light. Only the Lord can take you away from the darkness that you are in now. Your life may be difficult now but it can get better. You may be just as Solomon said, 1“all his days also he eateth in darkness, and he hath much sorrow and wrath with his sickness.” But please know that this darkness can be scattered. Even in your sickness and even deathbed, God can raise you up and save your soul from hell. There does not have to be God’s wrath in your life any longer. You, like everyone else, have a choice to repent and make things right with God. Please think about these things and know that life is short. Solomon said, 1“as he came forth of his mother’s womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand.” Don’t take this life for granted any longer but have faith in Christ for salvation.

Let us pray:
Lord, I know that I have not always been truthful to You. I know that many times I promised to live a better life but failed miserable time after time. How foolish I had become, while trusting in myself to get better and not put my trust in You. I am so sorry for those times that I was not heartfelt in my desire for mercy. I only wanted Your forgiveness but then still live my own life. For that, I am deeply sorry. I no longer wish to ever act that way again. It is way too important to live a life pleasing to You than anything else. Your Words make that clear in my mind and heart. And now that You have come into my life, I am so happy. I am happier than I have ever been in my life. To be on Your path is a blessing and an honor. For this reason, I wish for Your presence to always be in my life. Help me to never fall so far that You cannot get me back up again. I do not wish to sin but life in Your light. Lord, take all the foolishness from my heart now, that I might endure till the end. Even till my dying breath, may it be praises to Your holy Name. For You are worthy. I love You Lord. I trust in You with my life. My heart is Yours. For You, I will do all things. Move me and I will go. Amen.

Ecclesiastes 5 (KJV)
Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.
Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.
For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool’s voice is known by multitude of words.
When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.
Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.
Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands?
For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: but fear thou God.
If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they.
Moreover the profit of the earth is for all: the king himself is served by the field.
He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity.
When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what good is there to the owners thereof, saving the beholding of them with their eyes?
The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep.
There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt.
But those riches perish by evil travail: and he begetteth a son, and there is nothing in his hand.
As he came forth of his mother’s womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand.
And this also is a sore evil, that in all points as he came, so shall he go: and what profit hath he that hath laboured for the wind?
All his days also he eateth in darkness, and he hath much sorrow and wrath with his sickness.
Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his portion.
Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God.
For he shall not much remember the days of his life; because God answereth him in the joy of his heart.
