God bless you, as you start your new life long journey in marriage. If any of you are close to getting married, I know there must be butterflies in your stomach. Oh, how anxious you must be to finally have your wedding day set. For every couple that is in love, it is a day they long for. The day cannot come any faster. They are so joyful and happy. Even in their conversation, they cannot stop but talk about their fiance. That person means everything to them. Even in conversation, people can tell how happy these people are, for they grin from ear to ear. Just talking about their significant other sparks something inside of them. Now, this special day will come sooner than you think. And when it does, you will see your future spouse looking oh so amazing in their wedding attire. This is a day you will never forget. It will take your breath away. You won’t help but stare into your lovers eyes. For your love for one another cannot be contained any longer. Just as Jacob saw Rachel for the first time and was so excited. He could not contain himself, as he immediately went near to her. After seeing her, he could not take His eyes off of her. Then when the time was right for both of them, 3“Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted up his voice, and wept.” I am sure you can remember your first kiss, much like Jacob. Rebekah felt very similar when she saw Isaac. When she first saw him, 2“she lighted off the camel”. Later, they met and instantly fell in love. Both of these couples found love and got married. These are similar emotions we get before and during the marriage ceremony.
I remember when I first kissed my wife, for I was on cloud nine. Immediately, my heart was full of love towards my future wife. Then, when the date was finally set, my heart was so full of anticipation. I longed for the day to come, where I could spend the rest of my life with the woman of my dreams. And know that this wonderful day did come and it was amazing in every way. As the Bible said, 1we left our father and mother in marriage, and soon became joined as one flesh. I am so lucky to have Elizabeth as my wife. It has now been 12 years, and I am still in love with her now, as on our wedding day. My wife was amazing then and still is. She continues to make me fill loved as she once did in the past. I am grateful that the Lord brought us together and to give us two wonderful girls. Please know that your life is just beginning in marriage. Soon after the wedding day is over, life will begin to change and take shape for the future. Many more opportunities will come both your ways with kids and possible new jobs. And as these things start to unfold in your marriage, it is so important that you have a foundation of Christ. Remember the Lord and that He was the one that brought you both together. With God in your marriage, your love for one another will grow exponentially. If you want your marriage to be strong and vibrant, then allow the Lord to lead you both. Take a step back and allow His love to encompass you as a couple. Seek His love by reading the Bible daily, praying often and going to church. This will help grow your love towards one another and your faith in Christ. It is the love of Christ that has sustained my marriage. God bless you, as you seek the love of Jesus in your marriage.
Let us pray:
Lord, please bless every person that is getting married and is married now. Help them grow in their love towards one another. And may they seek Your hand always, that this same love will grow. I know that if we strive to go into our marriage with our own desires and intents, it does not always work out for the best. I have fallen flat on my face, so many times, when I have trusted in my own understanding over You. This all changed, when I fully came to You, Lord, and put You first in my marriage. And now that You are there, my love for You and my wife has increased. I pray that the same thing will happen in more marriages. May couples begin to seek You often in prayer, Bible study and church ministry. May they strive to do Your will, and do this as a couple. Love in marriage can grow dim but with You at the head, it can continue to stay lighted up and vibrant for the rest of our lives. There is something special when Your love is showcased in my marriage and I want more of it. Thank You for coming into my marriage and rejuvenating it. I needed it Lord. Thank You. I love You. Amen.
