Before we learn of the resurrection of Jesus, we must first remember His birth and death on the cross. Before Jesus came into the world, an angel appeared unto Joseph in a dream. Speaking of Mary’s unborn baby, the angel said, 1“thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.” How amazing was this news, for the Savior of the world was finally coming into the world to save us all. Jesus, our Lord, did come into world. He led a perfect and unselfish life. His kindness was for everyone, in His service towards others. His love was felt by everyone He touched. But still, the King offered himself for mankind. This is the gospel message. It is written, 7“Christ died for our sins.” He is the Lamb of God. Jesus 7“was buried”, and 7“rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” He 8“bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.” This was the greatest sacrifice of all mankind. Because Jesus suffered for our sins on the cross, we can be forgiven. 6Those that confess their sins, will find mercy and be saved.
Oh how merciful is our Lord Jesus. I give thanks for the cross. Though it was so painful and hard to bare, Jesus suffered that we might be forgiven. There is no greater love than what Jesus did for us on the cross. The Lord is so merciful and kind to forgive us as sinners. While on the cross, Jesus said, 2“Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.” He still had mercy and hope for the people, though they rejected Him. He knew His sacrifice for sins had to happen, though it would lead to His death. So Jesus died and 7“was buried” but then the third day came and he 7“rose again”. 3On that day, Mary went to Jesus’s tomb and found it empty. So saddened, she started crying, to think somebody had taken Jesus’s body. To her amazement, Jesus then appeared to her, and she felt His peace. 3He also appeared to His disciples and then 7“five hundred brethren at once”. I bear witness that Jesus did die but also rose from the dead. 5“Our old man is crucified with him.” 5“We are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” Only through Jesus, do we gain new life.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, thank You for the cross. Thank You for coming down to save us all from our sins. 4I know now that there is no salvation under heaven but through You. Thank You for suffering, that I might live. This new life, that I feel in my heart, is only because of You. Because of the cross, my old life is dead. Just as You died and rose again, I have died to myself and live unto You. You have raised me from the dead. Thank You for Your mercy. Thank You for hearing my cries and showing compassion for my soul. Only You can give me the peace I need to carry on. Help me Lord to never forget Your great sacrifice on the cross. What You have done is the reason why I live. Thank You so much Lord. I cannot wait till the day, that I am able to rise up to see You. What a glorious day, it will be, to see my Savior, whom I love with all my heart. You are my King. I love You. Amen.
