God Is Our Refuge

How often do we fall into trouble and forget to call upon the Name of the Lord for help. We often fall into our own ways of dealing with the situations we are in. We trust in our own hands instead of the assistance of God. Many people, when they are lost, would rather try to find the way without asking for directions. Instead of making it to their destination, they often get more lost before finally giving in and asking for help. Why do people care about how others will think about them even though it is the right thing to do? If you profess to believe in God, why do these things? He will give you boldness to stand strong. The Lord is our greatest deliverer of all. If you trust in Him, then also follow the Spirit. If your instinct is to ask for assistance then act on it. That could very well be an answer to your prayers. In Psalm 46, it reads, 1“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” He does not want us to be in fear but make us glad. Those that do God’s will, call upon His Name for help. In the storms of life, He is the anchor of their soul. He is the one that pulls them through any tough situation they are in. Nothing is to great that the Lord cannot handle. If we trust in Him, then we will witness miracles in our lives and the lives of others. He will work through us and others to help us. Be accepting to His hand, even when it comes from another.

My greatest delight is to know that God is with me. I know that as I march through the battles of life, He is by my side. I am not alone for He is my guide. The Lord is with me. Psalm 46 continues to read, 1“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” The Lord is exalted when we call upon His Name. When we give our allegiance to Him and not the world then He is lifted up on high. When we acknowledge His hand in our lives, He ushers in peace. The Lord does not desire that we are weary. Instead He calls upon our names. 3If anyone has an ear to hear, let Him hear the Lord. Be comforted in knowing that the Lord has your back when times are hard. 1“The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.” He allows us to abide in His love when there is times of sadness. In times of grief, lay your head upon the Lord in prayer and receive comfort. We don’t need to live this life on our own. 2Come to Jesus and find rest. Stay a little and abide in His presence. In your ever busy day, take some time away and read the Bible. As you study it out, let the Spirit penetrate your heart, that you may be taught. God will speak through every word. Come to know Him better through His words and prayer. Do as He has taught and follow in His ways. Take His hand, that you may know the way.

Let us pray:
Lord, how often do I forget that You are right there beside me. You want to be there for me but often times I neglect the opportunity. I think of my own ways of living instead of Yours. Help me focus on You, Lord. Help me to look to You and not mine own power. I know that You are greater than anything that I can every do. When I try things on my own, I am lost. I have gone down a stray path that leads to darkness. Lord, be the light in my life. Help me to no longer stray but to be part of Your life. Let there be no more battle in the flesh but an ever preset battle to fight against the flesh. I know that with You in my life I can win any battle. Nothing can do me wrong when You are with me. Lord, You are my refuge in the storms. You are the anchor of my soul. Keep on solid ground. Keep me safe from the temptations of the devil. Lead me into Your love. I confess that I am broken and need You to heal my life. You are my Savior and King. Lift me up, oh Lord. I love You. Amen.
