Evangelize: Downtown Boise With God’s Word

If there was one thing that I wanted to do most tonight, it was to share God’s Word with people. If people needed prayers I’d lift them up to Jesus and then encourage them to read the Bible. It was encouraging to see three new faces come out and evangelize. They had come out in the past but it was wonderful to have them back with us sharing the gospel with the lost. The message I wanted to teach this evening, from the Word, was in 2Psalm 5. Anybody that had an ear to hear I’d share God’s words with them. To start off the night, I talked with a friend named Don. In our conversation, I came to find out that his desire to seek the Lord has been recent. He has had a renewed hope in God and loves reading the Bible each night. Along with Don, walked up a woman named Catherine. I was pleased to read 2Psalm 5 with both of them. After the reading was finished, I discussed with them a few things, one being that our God is 2“not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness”. God’s commandments are here because God hates sin. He loves us so much to show us the way. We learn how important it is to come to God and ask Him to 2“make thy way straight before my face”. We can’t do it on our own and need His help. The last thing we talked about was the 2“Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield”. Only he can help us escape the temptations of the evil one. After out discussion, I encouraged them both to let God cut down any addictions in their life. I then prayed with Don for his girlfriend’s grandmother, who is in the hospital. She is currently in critical condition and needs a lot of prayers. I asked God to be with her and her family. If it is His will, to heal her that very hour. He was encouraged by that. Before I left Him, I told him that God has his own time table. If she goes tonight, it is his will. I just pray that she might know Jesus before that time comes.

After this wonderful encounter, I had the privilege to pray with a gentlemen that has a concussion. He also didn’t have a Bible so I gave him one. He was very happy to receive it. The last person I talked to was a another very nice gentlemen. He didn’t have to, but instead gave me much of his time, to talk to me about God. To start off, he explained to me the 5gospel of Jesus and the cross. He knew that those that follow Jesus are saved in heaven. Their ticket is sealed. After hearing this, I asked if he was a good person. That if God took him right now, would he be in heaven? His answer was no. So we talked about God’s commandments and how those that love him delight in following them. It doesn’t have to be a hindrance to do God’s will. God’s laws may seem like a hard thing to those that aren’t living for Him but for those that are, 3they rejoice in doing His will. We talked about 1worshipping the Lord our God and not having other idols that come between us and Him. These are anything that takes our precious time away from Him. 4We discussed not murdering but also not having anger in our heart, as Jesus taught. He taught us 4to not even look at a women to lust or we commit adultery in our heart. Jesus taught, 4“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” These things may not be popular in church but are important for our salvation. As our discussion was ending I asked him if he’d consider coming back to God. He was once a pastor but had fallen away. He said our time together was encouraging. He told me his desire to seek the Lord was peaked. I then showed him my devotional website, which he thought was great. Before I left him, we both prayed. I am just grateful to meet him. I know this was a divine appointment.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, You blessed this night and let all this come to pass because You are so good. You are so righteous. I just love to follow You. I pray for Don and these other gentlemen. May their seeds take root in their hearts. I love You. Amen.

Let us read the Bible:

1Exodus 20:3-5 (KJV)
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

2Psalm 5:1-12 (KJV)
1 Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation.
2 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.
3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
4 For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.
5 The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.
6 Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the Lord will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.
7 But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.
8 Lead me, O Lord, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.
9 For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.
10 Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee.
11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.
12 For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.

3Psalm 119:47,48 (KJV)
47 And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.
48 My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes.

4Matthew 5:21,22,27,28,48 (KJV)
21 Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

51 Corinthians 15:1-4 (KJV)
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
