Let Peace Be In Your Heart

When you are in the midst of strife, stay calm. Let peace be in your heart. Ask that there be time to settle the matter. Call upon the name of the Lord in prayer. He will hear your cries. If you are empty inside He will fill your heart with peace. Be still for the Lord is there. His love will surround you and make you whole. Let Jesus be the keeper of your heart. Seek His counsel. Let Him help you know what to say and do. We may not always know what to do in tough situations but the Lord knows and is always willing to help us. Abram had just prayed to God before an incident arose with him and lot. They both had much land and livestock. Because of all their possessions it was harder to live amongst each other. They had started competing with each other because of their wealth. However, since Abram had the Lord on his heart he strived to have peace with Lot. Abram said to him, “Please let there be no strife between you and me, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen; for we are brethren. Is not the whole land before you? Please separate from me. If you take the left, then I will go to the right; or, if you go to the right, then I will go to the left.” Contention among others will only bring heartache and pain. The more you pray to God the more peace you will feel in your heart. There will be love in your life and not hate.

If any of you struggle in your relationships with your family, seek the Lord’s help. Jesus is the prince of peace. He will give you rest. Through the storms we can find strength. God desires that we love and cherish our family. Let there not be discord amongst you and your sisters or bothers. Be a peace maker amongst them. If there is contention in your life, give it all to God. Do not judge others but let God be the judge. Call upon the Lord and seek His love in your life. Make amends with others. How can we say we love God if we have hate in our heart. We need to develop a deeper relationship with God and let His kindness take hold of our lives. A person in line with God is a person who walks in His words. Find time this day to talk with a family member whom you are not the best of terms with. Tell them you are sorry for anything that you have done to hurt them. Tell them you will make things right. Open your arms to love them again. Take them back just as Jesus has taken you back into His fold. There is no one that God will exclude from His kingdom that believes in Him. Just as God extends His love towards everyone, lay down your grudges towards others. Love God and one another. Let the love of God flow within your veins. Ever since I found Jesus in my life, my life hasn’t been the same. He is always there when I need Him.

Genesis 13:3-9
3 And he went on his journey from the South as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai,
4 to the place of the altar which he had made there at first. And there Abram called on the name of the Lord.
5 Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks and herds and tents.
6 Now the land was not able to support them, that they might dwell together, for their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together.
7 And there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock. The Canaanites and the Perizzites then dwelt in the land.
8 So Abram said to Lot, “Please let there be no strife between you and me, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen; for we are brethren.
9 Is not the whole land before you? Please separate from me. If you take the left, then I will go to the right; or, if you go to the right, then I will go to the left.”
