Thanks To God

After the Lord had blessed Abram “he built an altar to the Lord and called on the name of the Lord”. He gave thanks to God. He was so grateful to be blessed by the Lord. He is a great example of giving honor to God through prayer. How often do we go on with our regular activities in the day and not give thanks to God. We get so caught up in ourselves that we forget all the things that God has blessed us with. To truly understand all the Lord has to offer us is to come to know Him in prayer. We need to break free from the physical nature of ourselves and enter the spiritual nature with God. When our minds are focused on God we see past our physical needs. What the Lord has to offer us is most important. We need to reach the spiritual plateau in our prayer life to really know God. It is important to give thanks for our physical well-being but also give thanks for all our spiritual blessings. We can start by declaring our thanks for our physical blessings. Each new day I can see the bright sunlight and I am thankful for another beautiful day. I am grateful for my health. I blessed to be alive and well. As I walk outside, I am amazed at the beautiful trees and their many colors. The mountain peaks look magnificent in the distance. I am grateful to have a family who loves me. My wife is so sweet and I love and adore her. My kids are a bundle of joy and I am so proud of each of them. I thank God that my wife and I have jobs. We have a house to live in and the necessary food to eat for God is good.

We need to commune with God each day. Abram was an example of true devotion to God. “He built an altar to the Lord” and prayed with all his heart. Worshiping God was so vital to him. He could see the spiritual blessings God had bestowed upon Him. Our altar to the Lord would be giving our hearts over to Him in prayer. Our mind is offered that we might hear His voice. Once the love of God is in our hearts, we see the Lord in His true nature. He is our God, whom we love and cherish. If we let Jesus take hold of our lives our physical thanks will reach the spiritual thanksgiving to God. I am so grateful for the cross. Jesus shed His blood that we might be saved. He gave His life to be a sacrifice for all mankind. How thankful I am for my Lord and Savior. He has risen. Our God is alive. My heart sings hallelujah to His glorious Name. I lift Him up in praise for He is everything to me. I was not worthy of His love and He still came for me. My debt was paid in full. He saw past my sinful nature and saw the best in me. Thanks You Jesus for rescuing me. You continue to show me mercy each day as I falter. I can feel your forgiveness in my life. You pick me up again and again when I reach for You. Thank You for waking me up to your glory. The Word of God has been a light to my life. Your words speak to my soul. I pray that you will give thanks to God for He is glorious. Believe on Him and you will understand how wonderful He is in your life. Call upon the Lord and His love will reign down upon your hearts.

Genesis 12:7-8
7 Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your descendants I will give this land.” And there he built an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him.
8 And he moved from there to the mountain east of Bethel, and he pitched his tent with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; there he built an altar to the Lord and called on the name of the Lord.
