Heed God’s Counsel

Are you willfully following the Lord? If He calls you, do you answer? Noah was very obedient to God’s counsel. The Bible says that he “did according to all that the Lord commanded him.” He gave his heart to the Lord. He knew of God’s goodness and trusted in His promises. All God had to do was give Him the command and he’d do it. Even though the task of building an arch was enormous He did it anyways. There was no questions asked. He knew the Lord would follow through with His word. In Noah’s time, people were so wicked and must have scoffed at Him for what he was doing. He must have been ridiculed because of his faith. However, this did not change his heart towards God. He knew of the Lord’s majesty and followed Him. He knew that nothing could get in the way of God’s work. God’s word was true in his life. He knew the Lord was a God of miracles and could do anything. If God says the earth will flood He believed. There were warnings of the flood but the people didn’t listen. They were too caught up in there immoral life style. People loved the world and couldn’t get enough of Its pleasures. Pride had taken over their lives. If they could have just open their hearts to God’s word they could have been saved. Mercy is for all that call upon the Lord through repentance. The Lord would have taken them back with open arms.

When Noah’s family and friends entered the ark this must have been a big scene among the people. Animals of every kind, two by two, were entering the boat. The land was dry at the time but God’s people knew the flood was coming. They knew all things are possible with God. So after everyone entered the boat, it was shut tight. This is when the flood came down. It must have caused an uproar among the people. They were not ready for it. They had not prepared. They had no way to defend the waters. Slowly people got swept away until only those in the boat survived. The Second Coming will be similar to Noah’s time. Although God’s followers will speak of His coming only few will listen. People will be warned but few will listen. The hearts of many are too tied down to the luxuries of the world. Fulfilling their lustful desires is too easy for them. If people don’t come to Jesus there will be a time of reckoning and all the wicked will be destroyed. Oh Lord, I will go where you lead me. Just say the word and I’ll be there. I call upon your name and worship You. I am listening to You and will follow your counsel. I will answer when you call my name. I give you my life. You have healed the stains in my heart. For that I am eternally grateful. I will share your message of hope with the world. I will not look back until the lost are found. I love You Lord.

Genesis 7:5-9,16-17
5 And Noah did according to all that the Lord commanded him.
6 Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters were on the earth.
7 So Noah, with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives, went into the ark because of the waters of the flood.
8 Of clean animals, of animals that are unclean, of birds, and of everything that creeps on the earth,
9 two by two they went into the ark to Noah, male and female, as God had commanded Noah.
16 So those that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in as God had commanded him; and the Lord shut him in.
17 Now the flood was on the earth forty days. The waters increased and lifted up the ark, and it rose high above the earth.
