The Word Of God Speaks

Do you read the Bible voluntarily or because someone asks you to? Does it read like a history book? Do you ever get tired when reading it? If any of this is true, then take a long look at yourself in the mirror. Where do you stand with God? What does He mean to you? I once could answer yes to those questions above, because my heart wasn’t truly in it for God. My priorities were messed up. I wasn’t always seeking His will for my life. My life was more about pleasing myself than God. All this ended when I gave my heart to Jesus. I asked His forgiveness in prayer and I was born again of the Spirit. His hand came into my life and turned my life around. His love changed me from within and my desire to learn was renewed. The Bible was no longer just a book anymore. It was God’s mouthpiece. As I started reading, the Lord came into my heart. I could feel Him speaking to me. Each word came to life in my mind.

As I’ve refocused my life on God I can see the Bible in a new light. I can feel the Holy Spirit stronger than ever. His love has come into my heart like a fire. As I read, the words tug at my soul. I am shown things I could never see before. My mind has been opened to the meanings of the verses. It is becoming clear how God wants me to apply His teachings in my life. My motivation to read has turned into a passion for the Word of God. It is a delight to open the pages and dive into them. Chapters go by too quickly. I love to meditate on each word of each chapter for it holds so much wealth. I am fed by God’s word daily. His truths are made manifest in my life. The Spirit testifies that the words are true. The Bible is divinely inspired of God. It is a testimony of God to His people. I love to end my evening with the words fresh in my mind. My prayers at night are more earnest. The Lord is with me as I sleep. I find rest in His holiness.

1 Peter 1:22-25
22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,
23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,
24 because “All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away,
25 But the word of the Lord endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.
